IDPH Health Statistics
Hospital Discharge Database
Inpatient Interactive Query

Use this system to obtain information about the reasons for hospitalizations in Illinois. Summaries of hospital care for asthma, diabetes, cancers, hypertension, cardiac care and many other conditions treated in Illinois hospitals are available. For a complete list of selectable data elements and descriptions, see Data Element Descriptions. For a different perspective, make your choice from the complete major diagnostic categories (MDC), diagnosis related groups (DRG), or surgical selection list. Please refer to the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) Clinical Classifications Software page for more information about the diagnostic and surgical categories used in this query system.

Note: To select more than one specific category within each data element, click on a category and then hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on additional categories.

Note: Any selection resulting in less than 10 discharges will not be shown, and will not be included in total count and averages.

Note: Due to the large volume of data, a broad search of the IDPH Hospital Discharge Database may result in search times of up to three minutes.
